Unfortunately, under Xi Jinping, China is becoming more controlling. Although I would argue China isn’t really communist because it does have a market economy (thanks to Deng Xiaoping), but it is a controlling dictatorship. The simple fact that they monitor the internet and control what information Chinese read says a lot about the China of today. However, certainly better than the Mao years.
